Given by the BrandOpus – Hatch branding agency, this project focused on branding, and designing visual elements that define and communicate its identity across all touch-points.
How can you create a forward-looking spirit brand that is deeply connect with the place it comes from?
Concept
My idea was to develop an alcohol-free spirit inspired by Peru’s popular Pisco and the country’s 4000-year history with surf. My aim was to offer a way for surfers of all levels to connect with the rich cultural heritage of Peru while enjoying the thrills of the waves.
Solution
Just as you should not drink and drive, one should not drink and surf. Pico Alto enables surfers to indulge in the pleasures of the beloved Peruvian pisco without worrying about the negative effects of alcohol.
Product Development
Product Development
The logo is based on the traditional Peruvian surf, caballito de Totora, while the bottle was designed using a 3D modeling tool “Blender,” inspired by traditional Inca ceramics and the iconic ceremonial knife, the Tumi. I added a touch of modernity with see through glass and minimalist decoration.
Bottleneck Tag
Bottleneck Tag
The bottleneck tag (based on examples I saw in shops) allows the bottle to maintain it’s minimalist form by moving the information elsewhere. The inside of the tag shows Peru’s rich surfing history, and connects the drink to the country’s mountains and fruits. The signature mocktail recipe (Pisco Sour) is shared, as is a QR code to connect to Pico Alto’s Instagram account.
Product Placement
To make the product more accessible, I envisaged canned mocktails. They are inspired by signature cocktails from around the world, inviting a global community. I then created these mockups for product placement, in shops, bars and duty free stores. Pico Alto is made to travel on the wave.

Further Activations
Inspired by the Peruvian beach scene and the iconic ice cream cart point of sale, I imagined these mockups to sell the mocktails on the beach during surf competitions.
Advertising Campaigns
Advertising Campaigns
Here are examples of advertising campaigns I envisaged, billboards targeting the outdoor surfing community. My slogans blend surf and Peru, to embody the spirit (literally) of Pico Alto.
Social Media
Gen Z are highly engaged on social media, so Pico Alto needs to be heavily promoted on key channels, particularly Instagram. I envisioned partnerships with surf champions to grow the brand's visibility on these platforms.
Collaboration
Collaboration
These posts illustrate potential Instagram content, paired with example captions. For instance, a collaboration with our chosen influencer,Sofia Mulanovich. As the first Peruvian and South American surfer to win in the World Surf League (WSL), Sofia embodies our brand’s values. A proud Peruvian, she is passionate about sharing the beauty of her homeland with the world.
